The Montessori Curriculum consists of core areas which link with The Early Years Foundation Stage, in line with primary school curriculum.
For the parents
Whether you are new to the Andover area or are looking for more information on nursery schools you can find information about us here.
We are a privately-owned nursery which is open term time Monday through to Friday 8am – 4pm. The nursery was opened in 1995 and is based in a beautifully restored former Victorian primary school in Weyhill, on the outskirts of Andover, Hampshire.
There are four bright, well-equipped classrooms, each with toilet facilities as well as enclosed gardens and securely fenced play areas for outside play. There is also an on-site car park.
We have one smaller classroom for the 2year olds and three larger classrooms for mixed age ranging from 3 years to 5 years.
Starting nursery is a daunting experience for parents and for children alike. We run a Parent & Toddler group as a way of introducing younger children to the nursery.
Each child is unique and the Montessori method celebrates this by giving the child freedom to learn at their own pace and within their own boundaries. Many children are naturally curious and want to learn, so our staff are there to guide rather than ‘teach’.
When your child first joins us, they will begin with the simplest exercises, based on activities they enjoy, and then, as their concentration grows and co-ordination develops, they are encouraged to move to the next stage.
At The Magic Tower we carefully monitor every child’s progress to identify key factors in their learning curriculum and encourage the child to select individual activities that correspond to these crucial phases in their development.
Staff follow the learning and development requirements of the early years foundation stage and Montessori curriculum, to provide a stimulating environment for children.
They plan tailored activities and experiences to meet children’s individual needs; these excite children and encourage them to play and learn. Children have good opportunities to enjoy learning and develop to the best of their potential.
All our teachers are professionally qualified in early years teaching methods and we are proud of having one of the best staff retention rates in the county.
Our commitment to you
All our staff are committed to keeping you closely in touch with your child’s progress. Any concerns that may arise are discussed and resolved as soon as possible.

Infection Control Policy
If your child develops any form of illness please inform the school promptly – this will enable us to take any necessary action to minimise the risk of infection, and also to inform vulnerable persons who may be exposed to the infection.
Parent and Toddler Group
During term time we hold a weekly Parent & Toddler group on Thursday from 3.30-4.30pm. We charge just £2 for one adult and one child; any additional children are 50p each. There is a cup of tea for parents and a drink and biscuit for the children. Please let us know if you would like to come along – new faces welcome all the time!
For children who are registered to join the Magic Tower, we encourage parents to bring them to the Toddler group regularly prior to them starting as this helps them settle in easily when they do start.
